We decided to then take our dog diesel to Dr. Jones because my mother has used her for a long time and has nothing but good things to report. Well, Dr. Jones removed diesels tumor. She did a very radical cut which is what was necessary to keep it from coming back. The tumor NEVER grew back and he recovered fully. We were so grateful.
Dr. Jones is an excellent vet - smart, careful, and compassionate. She has been our pets' doctor for many years and has seen them through some difficult health issues. She has really gotten to know our animals, and she cares for them with attention. For example, she calls to check on our pets after a procedure and remembers details about them from visit to visit. I also appreciate how she lets us ask questions and always explains her thinking clearly when we have to make a decision. Her staff is also top notch, as they always go out of their way to make each visit comfortable for our animals and for us.
Then our dog developed Cushing's disease resulting in a lot of symptoms that were very concerning and hard to deal with and watch. So we decided to take diesel to Dr. Jones again and she identified immediately what disease he had and what we needed to do. Well once again we were grateful and she was correct. His symptoms went away and his hair even grew back and he is doing fabulous.
I have always had a good experience with Cane River Vet. The staff is excellent and very caring. Dr.Jones always takes the time to explain what I need to do for my babies. I never feel like she is rushing me through a visit she takes the the time to explain the problem. If she can't fix the problem I am guided to who I need to take them to.
Great vet, extremely knowledgable. She has a great heart, volunteers her time for the spay/neuter clinic and the Yancey County Humane Society & Mitchell County Animal Rescue. I would strongly recommend her. If you're the sort of pet owner who takes poor care of your animal, she is not the vet for you. She will be honest and direct in confronting people who need confronting.
Dr. Jones is an excellent vet. Very caring, honest, and "hands on" with your pet. Literally and figuratively speaking. She gets down on the ground and thoroughly examines your animal. We first started using Dr. Jones because my dog had a tumor that was cancerous. Our veterinarian in Florida removed it twice and the tumor kept growing back. Prognosis did not look good.
Being an "out of towner" whose pet Belle became quite ill, I went into town looking for a vet to check out my cat quickly...I was told flat out there were no openings for her at all...even though there was one pet dog in there being treated at the time...I was brushed off without a second thought and would have appreciated it if someone would have mentioned the name of another local vet who could have seen my sick Belle. Very disappointing experience.

We live in Florida but I'm so glad we took our dog to Dr. Jones. Our dog had two serious problems and she figured out what they were and returned him to good health. What else could anybody ask for in a vet?
